Get started with Label2Prod

Label2Prod turns a labelled Jira issue into a tested GitLab merge request. Setting it up takes about five minutes. The app walks you through five steps, and you can leave and come back at any point.

Before you start

There is nothing to install: no IDE, no terminal, no copy of your code on your computer. Everything below happens in your browser.

You need three things:

• A Jira Cloud site, and an account to connect it with. A service account is best, because Label2Prod’s comments appear under the name of the account that connects Jira.
• A GitLab group on GitLab.com or your own GitLab, and a token for it with the Developer role and the api scope. Connect GitLab explains which kind of token to create.
• An Anthropic API key. Fixes run on your own key. Add your Anthropic API key explains how to create one with a spend limit.

Sign in

Sign in to Label2Prod with your GitLab or Atlassian account, or with a link sent to your email. Your first sign-in creates your organization, and you land on the Setup page.

The five setup steps

1. Connect Jira. Approve access on Atlassian’s consent screen and pick your site. Connect Jira
2. Connect your code. Choose Connect a GitLab group and paste your token and group ID. Connect GitLab
3. Map projects to repositories. Import your Jira projects and choose the repositories each one uses. Map projects
4. Add your Anthropic API key. Add your Anthropic API key
5. Start a real fix. Type the key of a Jira issue, such as SHOP-812, and start it. Label2Prod adds the label for you, replies on the issue within a minute, and opens the fix in the app.

After that

From now on, adding the label in Jira is all it takes. Start a fix explains what you will see on the issue, and Review and revise covers the merge request.
